Where do the knowledge gaps come from? Does the AI guess?
Gaps come from real performance data: quiz scores, assignment results, and lesson patterns across every course. The AI maps each wrong answer to the specific concept it tests, then tracks that pattern over time. It only surfaces a gap once there's consistent evidence, not from a single bad question.
How is this different from just redoing the original lesson?
The original lesson covers the whole chapter. Study Corner targets the one concept that broke down. The Re-Explain activity generates fresh explanations using completely different approaches than the original. If the first explanation didn't land, this finds a different angle. Everything is written around the specific mistake your child made, not generic practice for the whole unit.
Can my child pick what to study, or is it only AI-suggested gaps?
Both. The gap list is AI-generated from performance data. But there's also a Custom Study Session input where you or your child can type anything: "I want to practice multiplication with carrying," "help me understand photosynthesis," "I keep mixing up similes and metaphors." The AI generates a full session around whatever you describe.
How does the AI know when a gap is actually closed?
Mastery scores update as your child completes sessions and performs better on related questions. When a concept crosses a threshold and stays there, the gap resolves. It doesn't disappear after one session. It tracks whether understanding is actually sticking over time.
Does this work for all subjects, including non-traditional ones?
Yes. Study Corner works for any subject with a course on the platform: math, science, history, writing, marine biology, robotics, culinary science. The AI generates explanations and practice tailored to whatever the subject is. Custom sessions work for any topic, even ones without a formal course.
Is Study Corner included in the base plan or do I need Max AI?
Study Corner requires Max AI. All Max AI features, including Study Corner, are included free during your entire 7-day trial. Run as many sessions as you want. After your trial, Study Corner stays available with a Max subscription.
What if my child has ADHD or other learning differences?
Yes. Study Corner uses your child's full learner profile, including any special considerations you noted during setup. For learners with ADHD, sessions apply evidence-based approaches that account for working memory, attention, and chunked instruction. The AI never mentions a condition to your child. It just adapts without making it a thing.
